Our Story

We are James and Will. We met in late 2013 as part of a filmmaking society at Durham University. In late 2014, we had our first actual conversation. From that point onwards we got on like a house on fire. Fast-forward three years and we both found ourselves standing at the daunting precipice of the creative industries: James in documentary filmmaking and Will in drama. 

This is James.

This is Will.

We decided that we had two choices: start at the bottom of something large, or the top of something small. We chose the latter. Inspired by Will’s desire to tell stories that hit both the head and the heart, and James’ desire to make Will’s abstract ideas feasible, we started Stage 3 Films. We wanted to take a personal approach to filmmaking: focusing on characters and stories rather than crash, bang or wallop.
